Google publishes Agent2Agent as an interoperability bet

A2A aims at agent-to-agent tasking across vendors, complementary to MCP tool calling.

Google Cloud Next 2025 introduced Agent2Agent (A2A), an open protocol for agents from different vendors to exchange tasks and results. Public materials position A2A as complementary to MCP: MCP connects a model to tools; A2A connects agents to other agents.

Why it matters

If agents become economic actors, they need a way to hire other agents. A2A is one of the first large-vendor attempts at that layer.
