OpenAI ships the Agents SDK, Responses API and computer-use tools

A production orchestration kit replaced the experimental Swarm project.

On 11 March 2025 OpenAI published tools for building agents: a Responses API, built-in web/file/computer-use tools, and an open-source Agents SDK for single- and multi-agent workflows. Payment is not specified by the SDK; wallet and 402 clients remain an overlay.

Why it matters

Agent runtimes proliferated faster than payment overlays. Every serious runtime still needs a rail, a budget and a fail-closed signer policy.
