What is an AI agent?
Software that can take a goal, use tools, and act — not a chat window with a personality.
An agent is a loop: observe, decide, act, check. In the machine economy the “act” step often includes paying for a tool or selling a result.
A chatbot that cannot call tools or settle a 402 is not yet an economic actor. It is a UI.
