How does a 402 payment work?

The seller returns HTTP 402 with machine-readable requirements. The buyer wallet settles. The buyer retries the same request with proof. The seller verifies and delivers.

If you skip retry or stuff protocol data only in a marketing HTML page, agents will fail closed.
